Term 3, Week 2 – 29 July 2026

What a great turnout we had for Teacher Led Conferences last week so thank you for making the time to come and korero about your tamariki’s learning. We had about 96% attendance on the night which is a fantastic effort, plus some other conferences happening at other times. Remember, if you haven’t mangaged to book a time with your child’s teacher, you can still do so. 

Waterlea’s school board are beginning the process of community consultation for the Waterlea Strategic Plan for 2027-2030. Tomorrow night we are holding our Maaori consultation collecting maaori voice for this plan There will be other board organised events to collect community voice including our Paskifika consultation during Tongan Language Week. Keep checking your upcoming newsletters for upcoming events for more information.

If your tamariki are performing in the Kapa Haka tomorrow evening they will need to be at school by 4.30pm and the Kapa Haka, Kai and Korero event starts at 5.30pm in the David Lange School Hall.

Middle School Musical – Moana Jnr

We are excited to announce that this September, our Middle School tamariki are going to be putting on a performance of Disney’s Moana Jr.

Last term, our classes had the chance to work on their dramatic skills, supported by the wonderful Pform. Auditions were held and key character roles were given out, to much excitement! Alongside these key roles, all middle school classes will play a part in the performance.

Performance Dates: Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September @5:30pm plus a matinee on Thursday @11am

Location: Waterlea School Hall

We are looking for additional whaanau support to make this a success both in the lead up to and during the performances. If you are interested in helping, please email andy.jones@waterlea.school.nz so we can add your name to the list!

Book Week

Bikes and Scooters left at school

We try to put all bikes and scooters away when left at school. We currently have 2 unclaimed bikes and 3 unclaimed scooters.

Check the garage, check with the children!

Attendance

Our attendance rate as a school for the second week for Term 3 is at 97% .

As always, please remember to let the office know if your child is going to be away and the reason for the absence. This information will allow us to enter the correct attendance code for your child. You can phone the office on 096364233 or email reception@waterlea.school.nz.

If your child is going away during the school term please email principal@waterlea.school.nz with the details for the absence and the dates your child will be away.
