Term 3, Week 1 – 22 July 2026

Welcome back to Term 3

Kia ora Whaanau

We hope you had a good break and a lovely Matariki with your friends and whaanau. All our tamariki and kaiako have returned to Waterlea refreshed and ready for a great Term 3. We have many exciting events happening throughout this term so check out the important dates outlined below.

Just a reminder that this Thursday 23 July from 1.30 – 7.15pm, we are holding our Teacher Led Conferences.

– These conferences are an opportunity for a parent/caregiver conversation with the classroom teacher

– Where possible, please keep children at home as they do not attend. If you are unable to do so, we do have some availability for child care during the interview time. If this is required, please complete the following form – .

– SKIDS, after school care are also available from 1:00pm.If you have not yet booked a time with your child’s teacher please phone the office on 096364233 or email reception@waterlea.school.nz

School will close early on this day at 1:00pm and children need to be picked up at this time.

Maaori Consultation

Next week our Waterlea School Board begins the process of gathering community voice for the Waterlea Strategic Plan. We begin this process on Thursday 30 July at 5.30pm with our ‘Kapa Haka, Kai and Korero’ event. More information will come out about this towards the end of this week but put it in the calendar now.

Attendance

You may be interested that our overall attendance rate for Term 2, 2026 was 77% compared with  Term 2 ,2025 which was 65% so we had another big improvement from last year.

Our attendance rate as a school for the first week for Term 3 is at 100 % .

As always, please remember to let the office know if your child is going to be away and the reason for the absence. This information will allow us to enter the correct attendance code for your child. You can phone the office on 096364233 or email reception@waterlea.school.nz.

If your child is going away during the school term please email principal@waterlea.school.nz with the details for the absence and the dates your child will be away.
