Term 2, Week 9 – 17 June 2026

Kia ora Waterlea Whaanau

After the holidays, in the first week back, we’re excited to invite you to our Teacher Led Conferences on Thursday 23 July from 2-7pm. These conferences are a two-way conversation, and your active participation is valued. This is an opportunity for us to connect and collaboratively support your child’s learning and growth here at Waterlea School. We believe that working together ensures the best possible outcomes for your child. These conferences are specifically designed to:

Share insights into your child’s progress: Your child’s teacher will share observations and assessments regarding their learning across different curriculum areas, highlighting their strengths and areas for development.

Discuss your child’s learning and engagement: We’ll talk about how your child approaches learning, what motivates them, and how they interact in the classroom environment.

Understand your perspective: Your insights into your child’s learning and interests outside of school are invaluable. This is a chance for you to share your observations, aspirations, and any concerns you may have.

Collaboratively set goals: Together, we can identify next steps and strategies to further support your child’s learning journey, both at school and at home.

Continue to build a strong home-school partnership: Open communication and a shared understanding are key to your child’s success. This conference helps strengthen the vital connection between home and school.

Answer your questions: This is your dedicated time to ask any questions you may have about your child’s learning, the curriculum, or school activities.

Information regarding how to book your conference time online will be in next week’s newsletter. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to continue to partner with us in your child’s education.

Have a great week
Ngaa mihi

Parking around the school at pickup/drop offs

Firstly, a huge thank you to all our whaanau who park responsibly and legally during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups. Your cooperation keeps our students safe.

Please note the following legal parking requirements:

Yellow Lines: We place cones out daily as a visual reminder. Parking on yellow lines is illegal.

Driveways: We are increasing the number of cones to stop drivers from blocking local driveways. Parking across or within 1 metre of a driveway is also illegal.

Student Safety: These rules exist to ensure visibility for our walking students and to respect our school neighbours. Some of our neighbours are elderly and have disabilities. Our MANA value of Manaakitanga is for adults as well as our tamariki.

Please park slightly further away and walk if the immediate school parking zones are full. Thank you for putting our children’s safety first. This is particularly important when it is raining.

Main Areas of concern: House Ave, Muir Ave and Ambury Road (sections closest to school)

Tomorrow we have our friends from Auckland Transport’s parking enforcement team visiting to support us to park safely and legally.

New swimming timetable until end of term
