Waterlea Sports

Maangere Otahuhu Sports Zone (MOSA)

During the year, we have the opportunity to participate in organsied sports as part of our local cluster of schools (MOSA Zone). This is generally available for Year 5 and 6 tamariki to participate in, though extends to Year 4 for Cross Country and Athletics.

We ask for expressions of interest from students, generally hold trials and then pick a team (or teams) to represent us at the different sports.

What sports do we participate in?

Term 1

Cricket
Softball

Term 2
Netball
Hockey

Term 3
Football
Rugby

Term 4

Athletics

Local Sports Clubs

Waterlea has a long association with the Maangere Bridge Vipers Netball club and often has teams participating in the Saturday competition made up of students from Waterlea. Parents who coordinate these teams usually hold trainings at Waterlea during the week. If you are interested in finding out more information about this, please contact the Vipers Club directly.

Many of our tamariki play football up the mountain with Onehunga Maangere United Association Football Club. Again, while teams may be made up of other Waterlea students, this is coordinated through the club and managed by parent volunteers. Please contact the club for further information.
